The Good
I got to do this with my buddy NATPLUMMER & we got to know each other better

It was better organized than last yr, altho there's always room for improvement

The weather was great except for those occasional gale force winds, especially at the end! Still, a good 30 degrees warmer than last yr

The Bad
NATPLUMMER was battling injuries & had to walk - in pain - for most of the race & it was her first HM

TOM arrived rather unexpectedly at the end for me -- I've skipped a couple of months (menopausal) so I really had no idea it was imminent

Because we were slower than expected they were out of a lot of stuff at the finish line: no chocolate milk, salty snacks, bagels or bananas . . . at least I didn't see any! But at least we got our medals

My cell phone network was completely overwhelmed & I couldn't call or send texts

The runner tracking also didn't work too great & poor DH had to stand around waiting a LONG time (remember I couldn't text him)

Still saw VERY few mile markers

I am way sorer than expected considering I didn't run, but it's not as bad as Montreal

The Ugly
Well, the good news is there really isn't any; not race-related, anyway. Simba still isn't doing great & bit the pet sitter when she tried to pill him & I feel TERRIBLE about that. He's a sweetheart, but not the easiest cat to handle, but I really didn't expect he would ever do that. I'm worried about him & the pet sitter, because cat bites can be very nasty

The soreness is kind of surprising because I didn't feel badly during. I'm kind of stumped on how much I need to eat to refuel . . . or if I just go back to normal eating.

I'm glad I could be there for NATPLUMMER. It totally sucked for her, but I imagine it would have been that much worse by herself. I hope she is able to go on & have a better experience in her next HM.

For myself, for the first time in a year I don't know when the next one will be. I'll take a few days off of running, but I do a 3 1/2 mile race on new year's day so I'll be back out there.

I'm a bit ambivalent about this race. I had plans to buy some boots as a race reward; bu I'll probably go shopping over the next few days so we'll see what happens. I really kind of wish I could go home sooner . . . I really needed some relaxation tho so maybe I'll get some the next few days after my MIL is gone (she came to the start, but not the finish -- which as it turned out was a good thing!).

I'm going to need my strength to deal with Simba when I get home.

Obviously I'm behind in reading your blogs but I am so glad I did. I always knew you were a great friend but you just provided proof that you are one of the best...I also know that Nat would have done the same for you if it had been reversed. Sparkfriends? Priceless!

emoticon Seems like things really ganged up on you against this Race!! Glad that you were there for Nat, at least you could suffer together!

emoticon o sorry about Simba! It really is awful when pets are sick. They can't understand that we really are trying to help by poking Pills down their throats! And they can't tell us exactly what hurts most of the time.
