Christmas Parade

Monday, December 03, 2012

The Holidays are officially here. Started out the month long celebration with our annual family trip to the Christmas parade at the beach. It's always a fun time for our family, it's a tradition, complete with silly hats, glow necklaces, my famous homemade sausage and cheese biscuits and cookies. (I only bake once a year, lol) and we enjoy the goodies at the parade with a large thermos of hot cocoa. This year I was so excited to take my GS to his first parade. Christmas is always more fun thru the eyes of a child, and of course, I'm just a bid kid myself. Missed having my oldest teenage grandson there, but he was the lucky one that got to go to Busch Gardens Christmastown, there's always next year. I was so happy to also have my dad come along with us this year, it is so nice having him living back in Virginia. Here's the story in pics.

My DD and I, this is her last Christmas at home before she gets married, sniffle, sniffle.

My sweet youngest grandson, just started walking this week, couldn't keep him from toddling everywhere.

My chunky pie is snacking on a biscuit. So much fun chasing him around.

My DH and the Chunkster

The parade started and he was mesmerized.

He fell asleep on Auntie Jessica's lap half way thru the parade, he was so worn out from all the excitement. I was a little tired too since I had started my day with a 6 a.m. 8-mile long run with the SIL.

After the parade we all gathered at my house for pizza and we watched the movie "ELF". No matter how many millions of times I watch that movie, I still LAUGH. What a great way to kick off the holidays

This is also my ideal way to get into the Christmas spirit. We went to Williamsburg the last 3 years in a row for Grand Illumination weekend which includes their parade. That's still the most exciting thing for me! Discovered it back in 73 with my roommate when we were teaching in Newport News. The picture on my page is of me and her last year just before the parade.
Loved all of your pictures. What a little sweetie your grandson is - such a sweet face. I can't wait for my new granddaughter to get old enough to do things with!

How delightful. I felt like I was at the parade with you and your beautiful family. Your going to have to give your grandson a new nick name now he is walking as I'm sure he will have the running bug too. Run Grandma run. emoticon Thanks for sharing.
