Tools of the trade

Sunday, December 02, 2012

Barely getting in a blog entry today, but I'm doing it. It was a hard day to get in my workouts too - homework that needed to get done by midnight was weighing (ha!) on my mind, so I cut out my run and a gym trip to focus. And I got it done by 8pm! I guess I could have gone to the gym with the hubs anyway, but I'm glad I focused on the most urgent task.

It's funny though, I felt like I was denying myself a treat when i didn't go on a run. That's a good sign. And I did get in 20 min of yoga and a super-abbreviated strength session with the bar in the garage. So I'm still ahead on calories.

I also cooked some stuff for the week. I haven't eaten either thing, so I can't tell you much about them yet, but I will later in the week. While I was cooking, I realized how lucky I am to have such great tools. Two of my faaaaaaaaaaaavorite things in the kitchen are my scale:(you can also consider these pics previews of what dishes I'm experimenting with)

and the mandolin that lets me cut things like eggplant so very thin:

Edit to add: I just took the cooked food out of the pan in the scale picture. It's a nonstick Calphalon bread pan that cost too much money and was thus a gift. AND IT'S NOW MY FAVORITE THING! (Spoiler:) My meatloaf just slid out of the pan with no extra oils or anything. Oh wondrous day! Oh joyous night!

What tools do you have in the kitchen that help you make healthy recipes?

Good for you!! I have a scale, and all kinds of things in my kitchen, but don't cook as much as I should! Always on the run making sure to get in our hiking before dark-so we eat out quite a bit! I try to eat as healthy as ai can out there in the restaurants, but it isn't as good as eating at home, I know. Will change that soon, working on it!
Thanks for stopping by my blog! That is great you and hubby go to the gym together!!! And too cool you do the rowing! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
