Serendipitous Sunday

Sunday, December 02, 2012

We arrived home so late last night that I told everyone they would have to fend for themselves for breakfast.

Today's lesson in Sunday School was about Hosea and Gomer. I had never considered how hard it must have been for Hosea, respected prophet and righteous man to obey God and marry a prostitute. And how much harder it must have been to purchase her back after she left her family and begin plying her trade again. It is the perfect picture of how God in His mercy forgives us and redeems us through the blood of His Son, Jesus Christ. Hosea has entered into a covenant with Gomer just as God has entered into a covenant with his people, us. We can rest secure in God's love for us. There is nothing in us that can evoke the love of God, and there is nothing in us that can exhaust the love of God.

I just don't understand why God loved us enough to send His Son... but I am convinced that He did.
"Redeemed, how I love to proclaim it!
Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb;
Redeemed through His infinite mercy,
His child and forever I am."

1 John 4:9-10 This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins

God bless us with the knowledge His love and sacrifice through out this sacred holiday.

    "Redeemed, and so happy in Jesus,
No language my rapture can tell;
I know that the light of His presence
With me doth continually dwell."

    It is also amazing that He accepts us even in our worst conditions.
