I set small goals for myself instead of looking at the big picture. It's easier to stay on track. My next goal is to hit 200 lbs. I weighed myself this morning and I am down 2 more lbs, but that may change by meeting time on Wednesday night. If I weigh in the same, I weigh 208. 8 more lbs to go. That is a much more achievable goal than saying my next big goal is 155 - which is my tentative goal weight. The lowest I managed to make was 161 through Diet Workshop in the early 90s and I hit a wall - my body wouldn't go any lower. Plus they never prepared me to maintain and I didn't know how to do it. I stayed thin all through the 90's and in 1999, I lost my 14 year old son. That started a huge downward spiral that lasted too long. Now, I am able to look back at the memories and not want to dive into comfort food. And, I am looking forward to the years to come as well. That took me a long time and a lot of work to be able to do. I want to watch my Grandson grow up and I want to enjoy those great grandchildren one day. On the path I was on before June, I wouldn't have been able to do that. So yes, we can review our past, but we have to look into the future and think about where we want to be and set small attainable goals to get there!
