After further review, it’s been a VERY good week - Student appreciation day

I said I would probably only blog once or twice a week and here I am blogging two days in a row and I’ve got a couple of other blogs in my head that will probably come out later this week. Sounds like an addiction kicking in. This has nothing to do with health and fitness so I hope it’s OK to indulge.
So I was reflecting on this past week and realized it’s been even better than I thought. I hate to sound like I’m tooting my own horn and I’m not fishing for complements, just reflecting on how luck I am to work with outstanding students. To start off the week, one of my pre-med students came into my office beaming and let me know that she got her first invitation to a med school interview. What a great way to start the week. Wednesday afternoon I attended a reception where I and 33 other faculty received teaching awards. Awards are nice but what is special about this particular award is that it is based entirely on student evaluations. Friday I received an invitation to a student organization meeting as a thank you for helping with an outreach activity for minority students. I do this every year and it is a great experience that I love to do and this is the first time they’ve had a follow-up event to thank the volunteers who help with their event. Then on Saturday I attended an induction ceremony for a student honors society which selected me as an honorary member.
So now that I think about it - what a great week. I am blessed to be able to work with a great group of students and for that I am truly thankful.
