Well, it was a whole lotta fun and a huge success on the intake side. They had games and fun activities for the kiddos, Santa made it to the Christmas party so the kids could sit on his lap & families could snap pics while they told Santa their little heart's desires. It was really nice and interesting too. Got to see lots of Army vehicles and equipment as well as some history on the Unit itself. There were some promotions for a few of the soldiers which was really neat to see. It was well organized, as you can imagine and a good time for everyone there.
As for the food.... Yes, there was stuff there that could wreck anyone's body, but there were also choices, which I really appreciated. The meat offered was either ham or turkey. That was good - I took turkey breast. There were lots of raw veggies & fruit and I did indulge with 1 piece of extra dark rye bread from a round loaf. It was so good. They had hot corn as one of the vege choices so that was good too - in moderation. There was a whole table of desserts full of sugar which I left to others. There were cheesy mashed potatoes of some kind and creamy sides of potato & macaroni salads and other high fat dishes. They were easy to pass up. It seemed like any foods that were in the danger zone were very obvious and simple to spot. So I could walk away from it feeling good and knowing I didn't blow it.
It was pretty hard to get the cardio walking in today - it was such a busy day - but I did get in 8.66 miles even if most of it was in the dark! That's why they make flashlights...right?!??!
Thanks for stopping by today if you had time. Hope you had a great Saturday and were able to get out to enjoy the great weather we're having!!
