In the past, the end of the year was always a little sad for me. My thinking was focused on negatives instead of abundance. The end of the year meant I was a year older, and did I buy enough Christmas gifts for the kids, I didn’t get that painting project done, never did buy those new blinds for the bedroom…and I was not feeling like I was achieving as much as others at work. Add to that a lot of cold, short daylight days and I was just sort of well, negative. Enough to make me want to move right past December and on to the next year. The new year held all the promise of goodness.
Now I know better. I have flipped my year-end thinking from one of inadequacy, one of negativity, to abundance. I encourage you to do the same. In fact, I invite you to challenge yourself to 31 Days to be Fabulous. That doesn’t mean you have 31 days to become fabulous. You already are. Yes, you sitting there, reading this. You are fabulous. The challenge 31 Days to be Fabulous means, you need to enjoy your current, fabulous state for all 31 days of December. This is going to be easier than it sounds. Do not think about what you are not, what you don’t have, what you didn’t get to buy; think about what you do have. Take stock in your life right now. For the present is all you really have.
How to do it? Start small and simple: use a mini notebook or just one sheet of paper. At the end of each day in December, write “I am fabulous today because:” and then complete the sentence. Think: little things. Examples:
· I am fabulous today because I put a note in my child’s lunch that said “I love you.”
· I am fabulous today because I encouraged my friend to exercise with me.
Try not to repeat your reasons for being fabulous, so you don’t get lazy in thinking abundantly. You may not think you have 31 original thoughts on abundance, but you do. No answer is right or wrong, as long as it is a result of abundance thinking. You know you did it right if, about 10 days into the challenge, you find yourself looking for positive things throughout your day, perhaps actually doing more positive things.
Enjoy December and the end of 2012 as you discover it with a new lens of abundance. There are 31 days made just for you, right now.
