Love my new pace group!! I ran 10 miles with them this morning at a pace I really enjoyed, just a little bit challenging. They are also very welcoming and supportive. There were 5 of us in the group this morning, although 3 of them ran 3.7 miles starting at 5am. I joined them at 6am. Most (maybe all of the rest) are training for a full marathon. I'm leaning toward sticking with the half marathon as my distance. I really am doing this for health and fitness and joy. I'm thinking 26.2 is probably just too much for me; I'm thinking that injuries would be much more likely than at 13.1. But time will tell.
Some things about my new pace group: although I'm the oldest by one month, all of us are over 60. All of the rest have been runners for years and years. Not one of them is overweight. But in general I will say as a group, I like runners. No matter their age or shape, runners just make me think, "good people." I have yet to find one who is cranky or negative.
I enjoyed celebrating my half marathon finish at my Weight Watcher's meeting yesterday and then I got lots of congratulations at the Galloway group this morning, too. This was the first time I'd run with the Galloway group since the half marathon because my family spent the week after at the beach. Some people in the group had even seen the 2 pictures I posted on FaceBook (they are in my Spark gallery, too) and gave me very kind comments. So I had a full two weeks of celebrating my half marathon achievement! Milking it for all it is worth!! Guess I'm done basking now. It feels so good. Now on to bigger and better or at least other things....
