Now what?

It is Dec 1st and what do I want for myself this month?

My goals for BLC fell by the side even though I did keep up but getting rid of these last pounds is taking a lot of energy that I just didn't have.

I need develop a reasonable plan to maintain my current weight and not gain during the holidays.

1. Eat until satisfied and not stuffed, slow my eating down and actually taste the food.

2. Don't graze, if I don't know what I truly want then don't eat until I figure it out. I still have posted on the pantry "It's not in here"

3. Have healthy snacks at work and eliminate the hard candy and not eat while in the car.

4. Groan and starting this off with a groan really explains how I feel about exercise. Always wanted to have that "high" but with my back and knees...I don't. So, having said this I will exercise for a mandatory 15 minutes/day regardless!! This I am declaring is a promise I am making to myself even when in pain or tired.

5. Yes...the food journal, I know it is important but I think my problem is that I tear out a page and then fill that out and toss it. Need to keep it in the journal book so that I can know without a doubt where/what are my triggers.

This is especially important during this holiday month....today is day 1 of my adventure!

    This time of year is so tough. I find that if I approach it as I would any other time of year, it takes a lot of stress out of my day and continue to make healthy choices. Sounds like you've got a great plan. Hang in there! emoticon

    Carol - I love your ideas. Don't graze - just makes sense! It's not in there - I love it and will put this on my fridge too! Eat until satisfied, not stuffed - this will work very well with my mindful eating! And last but not least, the food journal - it helps so much to see it in writing and keep it and not just throw it away!

    Great set of goals! I am thankful for Spark's trackers -that is the reason I lost all my weight and am keeping it off. Is there a reason you can't track online? Its so much easier then trying to keep track of papers and manually adding it up.
    It sounds like you need to get into water aerobics with your pain issues. Using a floation belt, you can 'jog' and generally work out in the pool putting no pressure on your knees and having the bouyancy of the water to support your back. I lot of people with joint and pain issues have found the pool a lifesaver. No one wants to exercise if they are in pain. Or perhaps you can see a physiotherapist to get an exercise program designed for you that won't cause you any pain. This is also why I love the elliptical -it didn't matter how bad my knees & back got -I could always use it because there is no impact.
    I wish all the best with this -its so hard to stay on track with food during this season of temptations!

    Sounds like a good plan! I'm with you on the exercise thing. It's really tough when you're in pain, but we have to do it anyway. I've wondered about swimming, even tho' I'm a dog-paddler. Is that something you could do?

    I love #1 and #2! #1 is one of the hardest for me because when I am hungry I seem to stop thinking and just eat so fast I have no clue what some of it really tasted like :)

    Yes, yes, yes!!! Commit to the exercise, do it, and it gets easier and you feel better and better. At least that's the way it has worked for me. Very smart of you to set goals and write them down. You are doing it!! Take care.
