The need for speed

Friday, November 30, 2012

I'm surprised at how quickly I'm getting faster. I've never run a 5K before, so I set a goal of running a 25-minute 5K in the spring, for basically 8 minute miles. I realized that I could probably go out and do that right now if my legs are fresh, so it's time to push the envelope. So, for my April 5K, my new goal is 23:15, or 7:30 pace. This might be too aggressive, but it's something to shoot for, and I think if I can work hard, I can be there in 4 months.

Excellent goal! I'm working to break 25 by the new year myself. Work toward it, and even if you don't quite make it, you're still getting faster! You've made tremendous progress already, and I don't see why it won't continue. :)

Great job. I'm going to shoot for the 8 min mile once I get through the holidays and my daughter's wedding.

    Excellent goal!
I'm going to see how much I can run my 5k tomorrow. I'm always concerned to experiment with such things on a 1/2 marathon.
