My REAL personal goal is that I want to dance.
Yes, I can dance, and I do bop about to SparkPeople videos, to my favourite CD's, and I get a bit of a wiggle on when we go out to concerts or the blues club. But I mean returning to dance lessons and practising to improve. I used to love my dancing lessons.
I don't mean return to classical ballet, tap, or even jazz dancing. I really couldn't face the whole leotard thing. Also, when I returned to formal classes when I was in my 30's, I felt that I didn't fit in as most of the attendees are in their teens to early 20's.
A couple of years ago, I went to a course of salsa dancing. I thoroughly enjoyed it, but at that stage I couldn't afford to keep up with further lessons as only had a casual work contract.
There are free salsa dance clubs and nights, but I need to become stronger so I can dance for longer. At the moment, I'm puffing and panting after five minutes!
Also, I don't feel confident enough to go because I haven't got an 'outfit'. Shoes mainly.
My plan is to work towards being able to dance for an hour - with some level of composure
Then I will go looking for an outfit to wear, and just do it!
Funnily enough, I'm not worried about my weight or shape, just being strong and having the energy to enjoy the dancing
