Reluctantly keeping the 1/2 marathon photos

Friday, November 30, 2012

This picture pretty much sums up how I feel every time I open an email that has my race pictures in it.

This time I thought for *sure* that there would be some good ones. I was feeling pretty good for the race.

Worst. Ones. Yet.

Seriously glad I saw a loss on the scale this morning. Trying to go with that so I don't go face first into some nachos.

Not buying them, but keeping the link for a likely before to use in a before and after post.

Race pics are never as glamorous or triumphant as the image in our heads! Where are the thousand of screaming fans, cheering us to the end? Where are the fireworks and confetti cannons? It's pretty hard to smile for the camera (when you can find it!) when all your energy is spent telling your legs "just 10 more feet, 10 more feet." Chin up, buttercup! :)

I feel like you are being too hard on yourself. It's great that you are able to do a marathon, I'm struggling to just do 3 miles. You made it and lost some weight at the same time, I'd say it was a great success!!!

Anybody who looks good while they run isn't running hard enough.
I'm not really sure if that's true, but I hope it makes you feel better!

I hate my race pictures too! The only ones that have ever been flattering were from my very first race at the finish. All other ones have been hideous. I am red faced, mouth slack, eyes unfocused, looking dumpy and fat as a house. HATE them!!! I try to smile and pick up the pace when I see the photographers but to no avail. Awful awful pics.

I love that picture. I think we all think we look like the top picture when we're running! My daughter recently said I sounded like a horse when I was jogging on my treadmill!

Running a half marathon is a great accomplishment. Congratulations and don't worry what you look like. You are in the process of changing your life.

I never see the da** photographers and it seems nearly every time my mouth is hanging open and I look like a dweeb!

Just use it to keep pushing you forward!!!!

Disappointing, isn't it? Last half I did, they took the pics at mile 12 instead of mile 1 for some reason. I have my eyes clamped shut in the pic, because that was the only way I was able to keep from falling apart in the last two miles. C'mon photographers, flatter us a bit!

Yeah, that's exactly how I feel! I'm lucky if I ever get ONE good photo of my "running". Don't sweat it!
