I Can't

I just can't get myself to come home from work and do an exercise video. I have 2 hours before my husband gets home from work in which to do any Leslie Sansone video I want. I love the Leslie Sansone videos and would like to do the 3 mile workouts on a regular basis, but I just can't get into it. Get out of work 2 hours early on a cold, wet, yucky day and I will gladly walk for an hour at the wildlife sanctuary. I thought about mall walking, and there's even a mall basically on my way home from work that says 10 laps is a mile, but that doesn't hold my interest either. I'd rather be outside. Perhaps I should look into cross-country skiing or snowshoeing. The wildlife sanctuary would be good for the skiing, but once again the shorter hours are a problem. Time to get more active during the day.

    I would start a lot simpler. I do would start with the Spark People 19 minute videos. Do those for 2-4 weeks; build up confidence. Then add another 10 minute one and then another. Ultimately you will have your 30 minutes/day. That's what I am going to do to encourage me to stick with it and not get discouraged or overwhelmed. Good luck and I wish you the best. emoticon

    There are some days i am not in the mood to do my exercise routine either. i have some 10 minute routines that are a great way to at least get started. if i enjoy it then i do more.

    Just get started. Can you adjust your schedule so you can do the video or mall walking before work? Then it's over with and you don't have to worry about it again! Is there another outdoor area nearby you can go to after work? You can do it! Just take the first step and let the rest follow it emoticon

    Sometimes if you just say ok I'll just do 10 minutes, that's enough to get you going. And then if you're not feeling it after that, we'll 10 minutes is better than nothing. But for me, usually once I get going, I can keep going no problem.

    I also have trouble exercising at the end of my day. I've found 2 tricks to be useful. Just refuse to think about not doing it. All day long just think about doing it and if a negative thought comes into your head just push it away. Head straight for the video once you get home.
    The next trick is to remind myself how good I feel afterwards. I never regret working out I only regret not doing it. I don't want to live a life full of regrets. emoticon
