Father Joe's Villages Thanksgiving Day 5K

Friday, November 30, 2012

I decided last year that I would make it a tradition each year to do a 5k on Thanksgiving morning. This year I was in San Diego. I knew my son would not get up early to do it with me so I asked my 9 year old nephew to do it with me! He kept me on my toes, as I don't run, I walk, but he had me running a bit to keep up with his SKIPPING! As I said to my nephew when it was over, we got our exercise in and we helped people less fortunate then we are all before 9:00am!

The 5k was in Balboa Park in SD

Jack - 1st time 5ker....

Getting ready to race or skip, whichever

They said over 10,000 people participated

Getting there....

I love that people dress up

He did not even break a sweat!

I told him I would train hard for next year so that I can run! He will hold me to it, he wants to win!

Very cool! I participated in my first Thanksgiving Day 5k this year, organized by a Phoenix Spark member. :D

WAY TO GO! SO COOL! I did my first 5k on Turkey Day and I want to make it a tradition (on every other year that I don't work, that is)

Inspiring! I would love to get my family to do that next year! Your nephew is adorable, what a great memory for you both.
