Small Victories

Friday, November 30, 2012

With the holiday season upon us, celebrating small victories is important. Typically from Halloween though New Year's, I gain weight. We are so acculturated to thinking that baking and eating are how we enjoy the season. And to be honest, the holiday foods are quite delicious emoticon .

This year, however, I am trying to find balance. And I just finished a 5 week weight challenge at the place where I do water aerobics. While I wanted to lose a lot more, I have lost 10 pounds. Considering Halloween and Thanksgiving, I will take the 10 pound loss. emoticon

But during this holiday season, in particular, it's important to celebrate the non-scale victories, too. Like those times we have one slice of pie rather than half of it. Or those days we get our full 8 glasses of water in per day. Or even making ourselves work out even when it's cold.

Here's to a holiday of festivity that includes much more than cookies and food. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Congrats on the weight loss. I think its important to remember that we can't totally abstain from all the goodies this time of year. We just have to watch it and keep it in moderation
