With the holiday season upon us, celebrating small victories is important. Typically from Halloween though New Year's, I gain weight. We are so acculturated to thinking that baking and eating are how we enjoy the season. And to be honest, the holiday foods are quite delicious
This year, however, I am trying to find balance. And I just finished a 5 week weight challenge at the place where I do water aerobics. While I wanted to lose a lot more, I have lost 10 pounds. Considering Halloween and Thanksgiving, I will take the 10 pound loss.
But during this holiday season, in particular, it's important to celebrate the non-scale victories, too. Like those times we have one slice of pie rather than half of it. Or those days we get our full 8 glasses of water in per day. Or even making ourselves work out even when it's cold.
Here's to a holiday of festivity that includes much more than cookies and food.
