Flooding

Friday, November 30, 2012

The creek has risen quite dramatically behind the house. We are still praying it does not rise more. It has gone from a gentle creek to a white water river. WOW.

For our area, they are calling this the storm of the century. So far it hasn't been as bad as they said it would be. They say it is like a river of rain coming to Redding, Ca.

White water instead of gentle flow is absolutely an awakening. Hope you have a plan for any quick moves you may need to make. And more importantly, I sure hope the water levels recede.

I, too, keep waiting for it to get worse, like they said it was going be. So far we have been lucky in our part of town.

Be safe, have an evacuation plan. It's amazing how quickly the water can take over after it crests. A dear friend lost everything in a flood last year, when the river quickly went for toppling it's bank to rushing into the house at a depth of 6 feet!
Better to be overprepared and underwhelmed!

Be safe and have your bags packed and ready to go if needed. Sacramento was supposed to lose power etc and it is raining cats and dogs but power is still on. No complaints. I hope your creek continues to drain and not flood.!
