I have been taking the bus to Bible study on Thursdays because it has a built-in 10 minute walk on either end, resulting in 40 minutes of easy exercise round trip. Well, my monthly bus pass has expired and I need to go to a transit center to renew it. So, I thought, why not walk it? It's about 2.5 miles each way but that's not impossible.
So I set out an hour before the usual start time. That would give me plenty of time. It was nice walking out of my little neighborhood and into a different area. I felt like stopping to rest after about 30 minutes, but I pushed on for lack of time. It was overcast but not cold and I really worked up a sweat. But I got there on time and I proved to myself that I could do it.
Coming home I took the bus. This approach expands my horizons considerably. I can walk out the whole distance, see new sights, and come home on the bus if I'm tired. One day I'll be able to walk both directions.
