Advent...finding Christ in every symbol

Friday, November 30, 2012

Tomorrow is the first of December and I love the season of advent..looking forward to Christ coming first as a child that first Christmas and then when he came into my heart to be my Lord and King and looking forward to His second Christmas ...when he returns again to earth as King of Kings.
This year i have been gathering pictures from various sources on facebook, internet and my own photos of things that I associate with Christmas and now am sorting them into groups one for each day of my Advent season which begins the day after Thanksgiving.
Friday pictures of bringing in the tree ...makes me think of jesus as the evergreen or everlasting triune God...it points toward Heaven where i will live one day and we put on lights to represent jesus the Light of the world.
Saturday decorating the tree and inside of the house
Sunday lighting the fireplace and candles and hanging stockings and
Monday the Christmas cards and mailboxes and packages
Tuesday Horses and sleighs
Wednesday_ Wreaths
Thursday_ JOY ...and memories of sledding
Friday is today and all the images from Charlie Brown Christmas including the part where he tells the bible story of Christmas.

Would some of you share how you connect these different symbols to Christ in the Biblical story of Christmas. I will edit this as the week goes along to share what I have thought of but want your input too. God bless you richly as we think on Him through this season.

The twinkling lights remind me of the star of Bethlehem. The candles remind me of Advent candles and the symbolism they represent. Tomorrow, I plan to either find or buy new advent candles. The green of Holly symbolizes the life Jesus gives and the red berries the blood he shed for us. Small children teach us exuberance this time of year. The old and handmade ornaments bring back lovely memories of loved ones.

"Let your light shine before all men that they may see Jesus."

Finding God and Jesus in the everyday things brings amazing joy.

The wreath is the eternal circle of unity with Jehovah found in relationship with the Christ.
