I've been thinking about my Body Mass Index, or BMI lately. Though I'm not close to the goal weight I had hoped to achieve by the end of the year, I have seen some encouraging results on the BMI front.

Starting weight Jan. 2012 215 BMI 32.7
late Nov. 2012 175 BMI 26.6

I'm still overweight, but no longer obese, which makes me very content.

I know I can do better. I'm very lazy when it comes to exercise. When I get on the treadmill, I'm always glad I did, but I'm happier playing with my dogs, or hanging around on Facebook...

I plan to drop to about 150 lbs and see how I feel about that weight lost, but I've placed my goal at 140. I remember when I moved to Mexico 17 1/2 years ago I weighed 134, and I was really too thin at that weight. Too bony. I had hoped to be able to lose a couple of pounds a week, but it's come off much more slowly than that. If I can swing a pound a week, I won't reach my goal until August 2013.

150 would put my BMI at 22.8, and 140 would be a BMI of 21.3 - both right in the middle of the 'normal' BMI range. For my health, and my skinny husband's peace of mind regarding my health, I really want to make it into 'normal BMI' as soon as possible.

    Great BMI results! I think it's important to remember all the good results / benefits and not simply focus on weight loss.
