Organic Delivery Box Week 71 + bonus pic of OUR pumpkin!

Friday, November 30, 2012

We canceled week 70 as we where away!

Apples, grapefruit and oranges

eggs

dinosaur kale, chard, green batavia, beefsteak tomatoes, butternut squash, peppers, onions.

This is our only pumpkin we managed to grow, the green house got too over run and we got VERY little from our garden at all, the weather, the slugs and snails... destroyed so much. So we are proud of this lumpy misshapen fellow!

Your pumpkin is so unique. It's nice that you were able to grow one so big - we were never able to when we had a garden.

Your pumpkin looks like a turkey, but I am sure tastes the same as any other pumpkin. We used to grow corn, pumpkins, tomatoes, and onions in our yard when we were kids, and the pumpkins just tend to grow in the direction of least resistance.

Hope you get a better yield next season. You'll come up with ways to cut down on pests destroying your food. Its part of the fun of gardening. You vs. the animals.

From the title of your blog, I thought there was going to be a rude joke and in fact it's just a pumpkin, though maybe 'just' a pumpkin isn't quite right either. A truly remarkable pumpkin.

Re slugs etc I keep hoping for a hedgehog to get into my garden and clear it out but it hasn't happened yet.

OH MY I am envious of your weekly organic boxes of very delightful freggies. Wish we had such in our area. What is green Batavia? I've never heard of it. Is it the leafy item in front of the pumpkin? And yes, your pumpkin has "Character" emoticon

The green batavia looks a lot like what we call mustard greens in the states. It all looks so yummy!

Love the pumpkin! It's got "character."
