Remind me again . . . WHY did I ever want to be a teacher???????

Thursday, November 29, 2012

Day from the dark side. Started a little LOW, by 9:00 a.m. had two students removed due to behaviors (the day started looking like it might improve) HA!!! Of the kids left, ONE (the only one who has never had a behavior problem EVER in our school) told us he will be leaving to go home to his parents on the 21st of December (why not the ones who act up and whine or throw fits or beat themselves until they bleed??? Then the two with bronchitis started coughing and sneezing all over us - not tidy tissue covered sneezes but 3-year-old type with SNOT down to their chin and sprayed all over materials, desks, and US. No time for lunch. . . more bickering and whining and aides on edge . . . toward end of day, got a call to go to the office . . . deal with child protection services about student I mentioned before Thanksgiving . . . (NOT likely to go anywhere but NOT a thrill either) . . . Day ended for students . . . checked email and got a message that I have to do two students' RECORD reviews because somewhere along the line they CHANGED policy and NOW I have to do them instead of administration at the board office doing that and reporting to us . . . looked for a paper I needed to do those reviews but it had been misfiled and it was 6:45 P.M. when I FINALLY found it and could leave the school . . . Got in my car and had a coughing fit that caused me to almost stop breathing and to start to pee myself (once I stopped coughing the leakage stopped too but I was DAMP) . . . got home and because I was so late - I DID call and tell Ed I would be late - but he was wound up and kind of hyper because I normally get home 2 hours earlier so just a PERFECT end to the day from Crazyland.

Not the IDEAL day, but I did survive. Made my calorie, fat, protein, and fiber goals - a little low on carbs but MY body is okay with occasional imbalances. I survived and will be glad when tomorrow is OVER.

Everyone have a great night. Good night

MRE 1956 - I have been there done that, only I was 53 and unemployed, had $600 dollars a month in medicine costs and was told to let myself get sicker so I would be disabled to get assistance with my medicines, and nearly died. So, YES, I have been there done that and am grateful for my job. Instead of writing this on MY blog, I would have done so on yours but was unable to find even a sparkpage for you. I will keep you in my prayers. Life CAN get better even when it is not perfect and you are over 50.

Your day sounds very stressful and sounds very hard on you. I can imagine how much you longed to be home on time with your son. I've always admired teachers especially special ed ones. You are to be commended for hanging in there and giving them your best.

Hugs,

Jill

Would you like to be unemployed @ 50-something? Let me tell ya, you don't want to down that road - I'm in a very dark place due to this and will probably leave Spark very, very soon.....

All that having been said, I admire you to the hilt for keeping on day by day - teachers are so incredibly unappreciated, and the c**p they deal with is unbelievable! I'm in a state where teachers are pretty much in the line of "political fire", and it's so sad.....

Also - emoticon on how you handled your eating for the day! Again, I'm in a bad place, food-wise as well - so much for Sparkin' here.......

Here's wishing you all the best!

I have the greatest admiration for teachers. Had to laugh at the cough & pee - been there, done that. emoticon

I thought I'd save this for a time when you needed something to be thankful for. Last year my grandson broke a mirror and tried to stab his teacher. Aren't you thankful he's not in your class?
You have my thanks and respect for the work you do. God bless you big time.

I just want to thank you for being a teacher! They are under appreciated and don't get paid as much as deserved! Glad you survived the day! Hopefully tomorrow will be better.
