today! Not only are my exercises and eating going great, but when I weighted in yesterday, I had lost 1.8 pounds, which is in my goal of 1-2 pounds a week.
Also, my daughter and I went to buy a Christmas tree yesterday at Home Depot. We were searching around for that 'special' tree, and not having very much luck. They were either too sparse, or had a big gap somewhere, or had a flat side, or didn't smell good enough, or didn't feel fresh enough, or...well, you get the picture.
Well, right there in the middle of all those trees, I had an 'epiphany'. Why not let God pick the tree for us! I told my daughter we would find one that was all tied up, just make sure it had a great smell (which is the best reason to have a real tree) and take it sight unseen!
We were in the process of doing that when the gentleman who works there came over and asked if he could undo the tree for us, so I told him our plan about letting God pick the perfect tree. He smiled and said to let him know if we needed any help.
So, after we picked the tree, we asked him to cut the bottom straight, and we would take it like that. He did what we asked, and when he was finished, he put it on our cart. Then, he did a wonderful thing...he said, "God bless you, and have a Merry Christmas!"
That just made my day! I'm still smiling at the thought of it. Why is it against the law for store employees to say that any more? It is the 'Christmas' season. We are out buying 'Christmas' presents. We are putting up 'Christmas' decorations. And, yes, buying 'Christmas' trees! What is so wrong with saying "Merry Christmas"???!!!
In one of the discussion board posts, I mentioned that while I was out of town last year (because my mom passed away, and I was getting her house ready to sell), my husband put a bookcase where I have always put the tree, and I was wondering what I would do??? Then, my daughter came up with a solution (she didn't even know I had been wondering about it). She asked if we could put the tree in her 'office'. The people who owned the house before we bought it had converted half of the 2 car garage into a 'man cave'. My husband kept all of his work paraphernalia out there, before he was laid off, and it has just been sitting there (with his stuff still in it), for several years, so my daughter decided to 'claim' it. (this also happened while I was in Virginia for 6 months) She stays out there a good bit of the time with her computer and videos. We are still in the process of cleaning out my husbands stuff, so she can paint it 'her' colors, but it was sort of put on hold till we get the house floor fixed from hurricane Isaac's damage.
Anyway, I just went to check on the tree, and God did a wonderful job of picking just the right one! Now all we have to do is put the lights and ornaments on it!!! Then I can just look out my back windows anytime I want to see it, it can also be seen from the street, and if I need to get a 'smell' fix, I can go sit with my daughter for a little while.
Life is GOOD!
