Quick Update

Thursday, November 29, 2012

Hi everyone! I feel like I haven't blogged in forever, but it's just 2 days ago that I did! Things are so dang busy right now. I can't wait until things slow down next week!

I have been spending my Spark time this week to do some research. I am researching e-cigarettes. Yes, I am STILL smoking! emoticon emoticon I just haven't felt as though I am ready to quit yet. My hubs hit it right on the head though, both of us have quit before, but we were going at it alone. Trying to get 2 smokers who spend so much time together to quit at the same time.... Talk about one heck of a task! So, we have decided to go the route of e-cigs to start to break the habit. I thought about the prescription drug to quit, but I am very fearful of how it will make me feel.

So, I did some research yesterday and finally just bit the bullet. I bought a pack of 10 disposable e-cigs. It was a hefty $92 after shipping, but should last the two of us at least 2 weeks, and we spend $100 on smokes every 2 weeks, so they cancel each other out if we use them! If we go this route, we will save roughly 50% over regular cigarettes. WOOHOO! PLUS.......... we will feel better! We won't be inhaling smoke any more, and we will be able to decrease our nicotine intake gradually until we don't need any. I am really hoping this works. I don't like being a smoker, but I like smoking. Weird. I know. So, anyway... that's what I have been up to.

Oh, and I've been getting my workouts in, but they are shorter than normal due to heavier morning traffic lately. So I'm managing to stay more or less on track! I hope everyone has a great rest of the day!

Good luck! My Dad tried to quit smoking many times over the 40 + years he smoked. He finally succeeded a few years ago when he started having some health issues. With you and your hubby both quitting together it should make it easier. Good luck to both of you!!!

I quit nearly 14 years ago and I really know where you are coming from. The best way to quit is the weigh the pros and cons of each cigarette, kind of like passing up that bag of chips, but with higher stakes. Now, I will warn you, that once a smoker, always a smoker. Fourteen years later I will still dream about smoking. For the most part I don't like being around cigarette smoke, but every once in a while......... Take it one day at a time and it gets easier.

I've never smoked, but I watched my dad try to quit several times before he was finally successful. I know you can do it, it's like everything else we do, the timing has to be right and our mindset has to be right; I hope the e-cigarettes help you achieve that goal.
