Keeping it going

Since my last blog (two months ago!), I gained a little and lost it again. So I'm back where I started still trying to take off the final 20 pounds.
I have a new motivation: Beach vacation in early January! Jamaica, baybee! I'm working on losing 5 pounds before I go. Not that 5 pounds is going to make a big difference in my bathing suit-readiness, but I think it will help my confidence a lot. And I need a good reason to avoid all those Holiday pitfalls - I can't overeat, I'm going to Jamaica!
I tried on my too-small wool skirts again, still too small - not surprising since I haven't lost more than 2 pounds since the last time I tried them on in October. They remain an inspiration, though - I want to wear them!
So the routine is now:
Get up, walk dog
Get ready for work
Hubby drives me to work
Hop on bike trainer, put in 45 minutes
Not a bad day! And it doesn't leave me much time to munch. I've been very careful about planning my meals so I don't graze. Weekends are a special challenge, but I've been very disciplined about packing a lunch so I can eat on the go and not be as tempted by fast food.
The thing that I keep coming back to is that while it's great to be pursuing goals in terms of weight and size, I'm also pursuing goals of long streaks of healthy eating and exercise. This is a lifestyle, not just a means to an end.
