Sleep Challenge Day 2

Morning! I have to share that this morning, when my alarm clock radio went off (it's only one in a myriad of other alarms), Bing Crosby's version of "White Christmas" is what woke me. I have to say, it put me in the BEST mood! I just had the warmest memories wash over me and fill me up. It was a pleasant memory of my childhood with my sweet Aunt Deb (who passed away this summer), being at their house near the roaring fire and watching "White Christmas" and decorating. Oh, why do we rush childhood?! What I wouldn't give to go back and experience one moment of pure innocence from childhood! Well, anyway, it completely made my day! emoticon emoticon So, here's day 2.
Filled out last night (actually this morning because I was too exhausted last night):
1.What time did you wake up today? 7:00 am
2.What time are you lying down to go to sleep? 12:30 am
3.What, if any, was your bedtime routine? I cleaned my entire house.
4.What were the last food(s) you consumed tonight? Chicken, potato salad, beans from grocery store deli. Didn't want to waste time cooking when I had to clean like crazy.
5.Did you exercise today? (Include the type, duration, and time of day if you exercised.) YES!!! 65 minutes of swimming! Did the new swim conditioning class and felt like I was going to pass out from exhaustion! Swimmin ain't easy folks! emoticon
6.Did you consume any alcoholic beverages today? (Include type, number, and time of day.) Nope.
7.Did you consume any caffeinated drinks or foods today? (Include type, number, and time of day.) 2 cups of coffee before noon. Herbal team, and one coke. I know...I messed up again. emoticon It's such an addiction.
8.Did you take any medications (prescription and/or over-the-counter) today? (Include type, amount, and time of day.) Women's daily multi; vitamin B2; glucosamine chondroitin; calcium/magnesium; power to sleep PM.
9.Did you take any naps today? (Include number of naps, duration of each, and time of day.) none
10.What types of stressors did you encounter today, and what types do you expect to encounter tomorrow? Today: Started new swim class, but it wound up being great..not scary at all. Also, cleaned entire house after work. Tomorrow: Nothing really.
11.How hungry did you feel today? (1- Not hungry, 2- Normal hunger, 3- Strong hunger, 4- Extreme hunger) 4-Extreme hunger. I think it's the swimming. I was soooooo hungry all day long!
12.How awake did you feel today? (1- Exhausted, 2- Somewhat tired, 3- Fairly alert, 4- Wide awake) 2-somewhat tired
13.How irritable did you feel today? (1- Calm, 2- Slightly annoyed, 3- Moderately irritable, 4- Highly irritable) 1-calm

This morning:
1.How long did it take you to fall asleep last night? (This may be an estimate.) 15 minutes max. I was so tired, I literally fell on my bed. Turned on my magic clock that let's me listen to waves, storms, rainforests, etc, and I was out of it!
2.How many times did you wake up during the night? (Include times you woke up and how long you stayed awake.) None. I'm so glad about this. Join the sleep challenge and have two good nights of rest after MONTHS of suffering. Whatever! emoticon
3.In total, how many hours did you sleep last night? 5. Definitely not enough. But, surprisingly, I don't feel all too tired today.

    That is great to hear you actually got some good sleep! Don't beat yourself up too much over the caffeine -it is very hard to stop, take it one step at a time.
You may want to take a healthy snack to have after your swimming to take the edge off your hunger -something with carbs, protein & a little fat, like a peanut butter sandwich, or a banana -a banana is actually supposed to be good to offset any muscle soreness or cramps after a good workout. I always do my workouts before a meal like breakfast or supper, but if that is inconvenient for you, a snack is the way to go.
