Medicare part D ?

Thursday, November 29, 2012

Today we are going up to the hospital to talk to a woman about taking out the medicare part d . I got to take a list of the meds dh and i take / We are insurance poor now . Between us we pay over 500 dollars for our health insurance and thats no perscriptions and we have to pay the first 165 a year. DH has a suppliment ins but i don't so i got to pay 1500 for first day in hospital and 20 % of what medicare don't pay. They have really changed things like dh 's cataract surgery if he didn't have the 2nd dairy insurance he would have paid 20% up front before they will do the surgery. I know i am facing that on both eyes . We only have till the 7 th of Dec to sign up ! The whole weekend is suppose to be pretty . I need to go to the store to. I plan to buy 2 big slices of ham 2 polish sausage rings and 2 porksteak packages . OUr save a lot store has 5 packages of meat for 20 dollars . We had to empty our freezer after that 10 days without electric . This week i plan to make me a list of at least 10 dinner meals thats healthy to chose from i have the hardest time with dinner. I can homemade soups for lunch . I am having trouble with wanting to eat about 4 oclock my personality changes and i don't want to eat or fix anything . We always have food but nothing sounds good to me at all. I basically go thru the motions and eat cause i get sick if i do without food. At senior citizen yesterday we had a cup of chilli and it was homemade a bake potato /sourcream/ cornbread and chocolate pudding ! I give my cornbread away took one bite and threw away my pudding but ate all the chilli and bake potato. Does anyone know how much a loaded potato at wendys is in calories? The broccoli and cheese is 460 i think . I really like those and on the days the church goes to wendys i eat light for breakfast and lunch and don't snack so i figure 500 calories ought to cover it ! Have a great day ! emoticon emoticon emoticon

I have medicare D and need to go with a different company since my some of my meds won't be on the formulary this coming year. I would like to use the website someone mentioned but I don't want to make a mistake. I checked with a human resource individual who does medicare advocacy and they seemed really busy. The message suggested calling 1-800-MEDICARE. I will try that tomorrow as I don't know if that person at the office for aging will be able to help right away.

I wish you all the best with the work that you need to do to get it sewn up for ya.

BTW: hope your meal planning goes well for you. I just don't cook as much as I used to and there are so many foods which I need to avoid. Everyday in my building they are handing out breads, cakes, cookies, and pies to the Seniors. I feel like I can not stay away from it! I think I am going to have to tell on myself and I need to put it to prayer. I need to make an intention because right now I am on the fence and can't see the why's for the wherefore's.

Hugs! Karen

I hope all goes well for you and your insurance coverage. Even in Canada, it is really confusing and the only thing I have is medications (some) are covered., no dental or eye glasses. No fun being a senior with no insurance policy. emoticon

I googled it and it says the loaded potato has 510 calories.

Hope things ease up for you on the medical insurance. Difficult situation to be in.

I hate to see how things will change for you once Obamacare is fully enacted. The costs are going to only go up for Medicare. Have you looked to see if you can get your prescriptions through Express Scripts? Home delivery is available and it dropped my medications 30.00 per month to have them delivered to my door. It's worth checking into.

for infor on wendy's foods, go to wendy's website

when we were signing my mother up for part d, we actually went to the website where you sign up, typed in the meds my mother was using and it gave us the best options and prices for them and the places in our areas to get them

no matter where you get them, beware the black hole. that is the point for a time where you will be paying out a lot of money before things really get better
