Evening off turned into light Jog.

Wednesday, November 28, 2012

I left work today and went to pick up my race packet for Saturday. Got my shirt, Santa hat, and beard! This is going to be fun. I promise pictures on Saturday.

Well, I got home and did my 20 squats and had dinner. See I wasn't supposed to walk the dog as I have my race on Saturday and I've got some shin pain. So I sat down and there was nothing on TV. Hubby was teaching Kung Fu. And then Tazzy gave me the pathetic look.

Ok, we can walk. Nice slow walk won't hurt. Yeah that didn't happen. Ended up jogging. It was just so nice out, no wind, and the moon was gorgeous! It was so bright the path was actually lit up (there are no lights on our trail).

But I had worn my old shoes (since I wasn't going to run) and my legs didn't hurt?!? Go figure. I think I just need to switch my shoes up. Doesn't make sense but I get the shin pain after running for a couple of weeks in any pair of shoes. I wore my old ones today (that were hurting last month) and no pain.

So I got in an ok run tonight on top of some squats and wall push-up. I'm in calorie for the day and I still have room for soy. It's a good evening.

Super! Glad your legs didn't hurt yesterday for the jog. emoticon

BTW, I was wondering what type of soy do you eat? I've been trying the edamame, but I'm getting tired of it. Any suggestions?

What is the name of your 5K? Love that they are giving out Santa hats and beards! Can't wait to read all about it! Congrats on your wonderful day! If you have a Walgreens around you, look for a cream called Pain Buster. It works so well on minor pains from strenuous exercise. My MIL swears by it and it takes alot to gain her approval! I like it too. It helps when my broken shin goes to hurting! Watch that pain! Do a search on SP for the exercises to help with shin splints too! What am I? A man? I am trying to fix your problems! Just take care! HeeHee!

Have fun at the race! Looking forward to pictures and the race report! Hope your shin pain stays away.

I meant to run in a hot chocolate run this weekend with a few friends but I waited to long to sign up and the race closed out already. Maybe I will throw on my santa hat and run with my kids in our own santa run!

Sorry to hear about the pain. I had no idea from other articles I read on SP that runners have pain if they keep up with running for quite a few years. I have never been a runner due to asthma, but I didn't realize this was an issue.
Anyways...good luck on your Santa Run!

Good luck on your Santa run this weekend. Is this the one in Chicago?

I have two different pair of running shoes and I switch between the two. It seems to help keep the niggling aches and pains to a minimum.

Sounds like you had a good night. Strange about the pain though. Maybe, like many other things, changing things up will help. Now you just have to figure which ones to wear for the race. I can't wait to see the pics.

When I had the Mutt Brothers, I was always getting unintended exercise. I'd think we were just going out for a quickie, and then they'd start pulling for more. I tested them one time. They really would walk until they couldn't any more.

Sounds like a nice evening jog. I love when the moon in full and the air is fresh and crisp. Switching your shoes up certainly sounds like it helped - hopefully it's a long term solution instead of a fluke.

Glad your shins are doing good. Isn't that odd that they didn't hurt in a pair of shoes that they previously hurt in? I guess changing shoes helps...

Good luck with your Saterday race.

good job! Oh, actually it makes sense that switching off shoes would make your legs feel better! It just changes the way your feet/legs hit the pavement I suppose.

HUGS and here's to a good Thursday.
