I think that I am not a runner at all! But for some reason I had a spark :) a couple of days ago - I started thinking about learning how to run. So, I downloaded an app on my iphone, and went today for DAY1 training. It was a little hard, but I hope it will be better every time. I decided to go with longer version of training which is 8 weeks, I may even stretch it out to 12 weeks, will see....
UPDATE as of 12/3/12
It was my third time training for this program. It was quite hard, but I made it!

I had been planning to start a running program in Jan. My grand daughter started it for me She took the training wheels off her We ran, & chased for hrs yesterday. We had a ball!!! I am litterally sick. I've had 9 surgical procedures the last one in Sept. 3 were abdominal. But it was worth it, & i'll be doing it again.... just as soon as my tummy

I've started walking 5k's. Can't wait to start running!!!

I'm soooo rear backwards. If i can do it you surely can.

If you're just starting out, I recommend the couch to 5k program (c25k)
I never finished it, but once I get some more weight off my knee I plan to again. I was running for 5 minutes straight when I stopped. That's 5 minutes longer than I used to be able to. lol
Plus, there's lots of podcasts of music you can download that have the timing to stop and start already put in.

My youngest daughter and I did a couch to 5k program a while ago and had fun....We decided we aren't runners but walkers after it was done. We leave the running to my Cross Country daughter! Have fun and enjoy the journey!
