We celebrated our Anniversary on this Thanksgiving Day! In 2010, this was our first 5K. 29 5Ks and 2 Half Marathons later, this is just one of our testimony benchmarks to good health! With a field of 20,000, I'm nursing a "tender" Achilles and the fact that we were doing the Space Coast Half Marathon in 72 hours, I decided to embrace the sights & sounds of this event!
Having breakfast off a new Smart Choices menu at Einstein Bros...
...we met Anne-Marie & Wolfgang from Wolfsburg, Germany. I had seen them at the Pre-Race Party, and wanted to show a little hospitality. They belonged to a German National Triathlon Club and were running the Clearwater Challenge (5K, 1Mile, 10K) during their US vacation! (I regret that I didn't get a photo of us together.) We traded e-mail addys and wished good times all around!
We made it to the Starting Line 15 minutes before the air horn start. Soon, along with 20,0000 of our new closest runner friends, we were off!
Our first musical support station was a great steel drummer to set our tropical location right!
DSSECRETS pointed our one of our sidewalk "supporters." Ya gotta laugh!
All the volunteers had great attitude and focused on the needs of the participants! This was the first of several water stations.
Just a duo but great local talent! The guitarist was strong!
And this was just the first mile straightaway!
As mentioned, props to all the volunteers! The Palm Harbor Panthers Cheerleaders Water Station!
Love this music stop! Dixieland, Ragtime, N'Awlins Style music!
Uh huh, mile 2!
D's not crazy about Country, I like it all! Another course regular and fun bunch of guys!
This band ensemble played Christmas music to get us all in the holiday spirit!
Love the fact that this trio of bagpipers played victory music as we were in the final stretch!
Just entering the stadium...
...and coming to the finish line!
My fave DSSECRETS finish shot to date!
Just a part of the 20,000+Turkey Trot participants!
Had to take this shot of the best teammate one could ever have!
I love stadium finishes!
Embracing the essence of this Turkey Trot was the goal. I'm happy we always do this. Life is too short and we will never pass this way again. Thanks and much love in the holidays to come!
