Tracking

Wednesday, November 28, 2012

True confession time, I sometimes (not very often) skip a day of tracking my food. emoticon Shocking I know. I still watch what I eat, it's just that sometimes I don't feel like taking the time to get on SparkPeople and enter everything on the tracker. And there are days when I wonder about the tracker itself. Like the other day I had 1/2 a turkey sandwich(turkey, lettuce, onions, mayo on wheat bread) at a local coffee shop. I later entered it into my nutrition tracker and it said it was a 182 calories...and...0 carbs,0 fat, and 0 protein. Really? Empty calories? emoticon Come on! I know the bread had carbs, the mayo had fat, and the turkey had protein. I sometimes wonder about if it is giving appropriate amounts. It is no wonder that somedays I don't meet my protein goals. It doesn't always give enough credit. I'm not giving up on the tracking because I really do think it is helping a lot. If nothing else, it does keep me mindful of what I'm putting in my mouth. Just thought I'd share that with you and get your thoughts. Happy tracking all! emoticon emoticon

I'm a stickler for entering the right information. It's true some people focus on the calories only. I try to make sure the info. is complete and accurate, or enter it myself. Something else I've noticed is that food mfr. change their recipe/formula often, so the calories on certain foods aren't always accurate because of the change. (Often they try to come out with lower-calorie versions. Just something to remember.

I agree about tracking. It is important but sometimes I don't have time and there are a lot of mistakes in the tracking info. Some people don't bother to put the nutrients in and just have the calories.

Some people whi just track calories will enter food on there without the breakdown. I either enter it in myself, or just search through for one that does have the whole set of information. Good luck
