I continue to ride my exercise bike each day, and am doing well with that. Yesterday, I rode it twice...just a ten minute segment the second time...because of a team challenge to add 10 minutes of exercise each day this week.
In a previous post, I mentioned that I ride an exercise bike because it is easier than walking. My Fibromyalgia causes a lot of pain in my ankles and knees, so I avoid walking too much, usually just short distances. Also, when I go shopping at several different stores, I get extremely tired and winded and couldn't make it at all without the breaks when driving from one store to another.
But, lo and behold, I power walked for 10 minutes today!!!
I had to take my daughter to her 'small group', which is a Church function that she has once a week, and after dropping her off, I made a run to the store for a few things. When I was finished with that, I would normally just sit in the car and listen to the radio or read. I usually sit by a park area and sometimes watch kids play or people walking their dogs.
Since it is getting dark so early these days, and it was also cool, no one was around. Sooooo, instead of just sitting, I decided to try walking. I figured if it hurt, or I got tired, I could get back to the car and sit down. I surprised myself by walking for 10 minutes without pain or fatigue. I could have gone longer, but I just had my t-shirt on (oh, and pants and shoes) and it was getting chilly.
I guess riding the bike is helping in other ways.
By the way, my heart rate was back to normal today. I thought I was going to have to cut my time short because I was already a little tired before I started, but I made it. My husband had to go to the Navy Base to pick up a prescription this afternoon, and I went with him and then we shopped at the commissary. I had to fit my exercise in between that trip and taking my daughter...but it all turned out fine.
I even managed to eat all my calories, etc. today!
