Here We Go!!!

Tuesday, November 27, 2012

For several years one of my goals was to get my house in saleable condition so that I could look for a new job and relocate.

While I really like my job here, there are a couple of things that have made this job really just unbearable for me.

Anyway, long story short, I have signed papers to sell our house. We don't know the closing date yet but with the holidays it probably won't be until after January 1.

I also have a phone interview for a job in Las Vegas on Thursday morning. To say I'm a little nervous would be an understatement! Compared to the hospital I work at now, the one I applied to is enormous. 10 times as big. I have not worked in a such a large hospital since my internship. The last "larger" hospital I worked in was about 200 beds. This one is 700. GAH!!!

But I am fully capable of working in a lab that large. Heck I work in the lab I'm in alone all night long in all departments. In another hospital, I would most likely work in whatever department I'm assigned to on a particular day. No moving around. Oh, that is if I get the tech job that they posted a few days after I applied for the job that I'm interviewing for...the job I never thought I'd get a call for...

The job I'm interviewing for is the evening shift lab supervisor. I never thought they would call me for this job because, even though I have many many years of experience as a bench tech and I am qualified for a supervisor position, I have no supervisory experience, and the ad stated that they preferred someone with such experience in a large laboratory. Well, neither of those qualify for me. So I was shocked that they of all the jobs I applied for called...

Anyway, I hope that if they don't consider me for the supervisor job, they consider me for the bench tech position. I KNOW I am qualified for that one!

Back to the other things going on. Obviously I cannot leave until escrow closes on my house AND I have another job. So I'm just going to hope that things go smoothly from here on out. Will be very busy packing, moving things to storage, trying to find a short term place to stay until I can go...all in all just very busy times to come.

One goal that I set a long time ago is now starting to come to fruition. On to bigger and (hopefully) better things.
