Decided not to go to cookie exchange

Tuesday, November 27, 2012

Thank you everyone for the ideas for cookies. I did decide though that this is just something that I will choose not to attend. First of all I just don't like to bake or cook and that's a fact. I used to enjoy it when I ate the stuff but now I don't keep anything in the casa that even resembles baking ingredients. So I thought I just don't need to attend this function. There are always so many things going on down here that I decided to choose the right ones. Yes it would have been nice to see the ladies but then also this is a group of gals that like their wine and I don't drink wine either. I know I could always take my two beers but I just don't need a bunch of cookies either. So decision made.....a cookie exchange will not derail me this time.
I hope all my sparks buddies are having a good week.
I am still enjoying eating right and most of all healthy.
Cheers
Sallie

Good for you - I was also invited to a cookie exchange and decided not to go since I don't need to have all those cookies!

Great choice! I have never heard of a cookie exchange. I don't bake and I don't drink alcohol, I guess that is why LOL!
Enjoy your other options for activities!

I bake two pies for a church supper, once a year. Pre-Spark, I'd have baked another two for home on the same day. Two years running, I've only baked the pies for church.

It's still a good charity activity, but now it lacks the general holiday festiveness that it used to have. But then, nothing tastes as good as being able to run a 7 minute mile feels.

Well it looks like you have support here. It would not be my cup of tea either. Glad you made a choice that is good for you.

I don't think I have bought a 5 lb bag of sugar in over 10 years. Amazing what use to be staples are no longer in our homes. Is it a sign of the times or the age. Enjoy your week.

Sallie good for you!!! There are 7 of us at work & we have the cookie exchange also .I decided I am not going in with them as they know I am trying to lose weight, So if I did, that would be 7 dozens of cookies that my husband & I do not need. So it looks like we both made good choices!!

Good decision. Time is too valuable to spend it doing something you don't really enjoy.

Smart thinking! And if you're at all like me, I tend to eat more when drinking! In other words, drinking wine (or beer) = eating too many cookies! :)

I turned down a big breakfast Thanksgiving morning at the daughter in laws. I felt like two big meals in one day was a bit much. Bully for you for sticking to your guns. Have a great day.

Sounds like a wise choice, Sallie. We can't do everything. We pick and choose. That's just the way it is. When you can make decisions that support healthier living, that's great!! -Marsha

Good for you. With so many things going on this year it's best to avoid events that would derail you. Like you I don't keep baking ingredients in the house (sugar, flour etc) Last year I had to buy those specifically for the cookie exchange. I'll give this year's a miss too!

I think you made the right choice. I don't care for those cookie exchanges unless I know the others involved and how clean they keep their kitchens!

Great choice! I avoid those situations as much as possible. People say that it makes me anti-social, but I say why does human interaction ALWAYS have to be around food and alcohol??
