Marathon training continues

In my last blog entry I mentioned that I was doing a 17 mile run. Got through that in fine shape. I finally decided to enter the Buzz Marathon in San Miguel Ca in February. This will be my first marathon! I am so excited about it. After my 17 mile run two weeks ago I have continued to train, alternating 3-5 mile runs and yoga classes during the week and then long runs. After my 17 mile run, I ran 9 miles last week. My training calls for this long-short approach and it seems to be working pretty well for me. Today I did 20 miles, the longest I had ever run. Did it in 4 hr 8 min, so I am not sure that a 5 hr marathon will happen, but that is ok - the point is to finish it. I also committed myself to run at least 1 mile everyday from Thanksgiving Day to New Years Day. This was a challenge that I found on Runners World. That is fitting in to my schedule just fine.
