Had a good day at work and we were getting ready to go to pistol leagues when my Mom called. She had fallen earlier in the day she said and her left arm was really sore and didn't "work". She wanted to let me know and to see if I would call her later in the evening to check in on her. I asked if it was broken, and she said no, the arm was okay, but her hand and wrist really were sore. I figured this needed to get checked out, so we went to her house and whisked her to an Urgent Care. Three hours later, she is wearing a splint and had been told she has a broken wrist. Her left arm is all bandaged up and stabilized now so the pain isn't as bad as before.
We took her home and grabbed a few cheeseburgers at McDonald's for her since she was so hungry. She ate one, and the other two are in the fridge in case she needs a quick and easy snack. Heating them up in the microwave should be fairly easy for a few seconds. Got her all ready so she can just get into bed and made sure she has some Advil in case. The Dr didn't want to give her any pain pills if she could avoid them as he was concerned about the side effects for her and her balance. She was doing very well considering she is 90 and so sorry she had to bother us and ruin our evening as she put it.
Tuesday I will call and get an appointment at the Orthopedic Surgeon near us. The doctor we saw thinks that she will only need a cast, not any surgery. What she has now is only a temporary splint. I have the disc of the xrays to take with us when we go in so that should tell the surgeon what needs to be done.
Other than that had a nice day at work. The General manager and Store Manager took me out to lunch as a thank you for the extra duties I assumed with writing the schedule in addition to my regular job. Was a nice show of appreciation and we had a good lunch at a Granite City restaurant near the store I work at. So glad the schedule writing will be over soon- our new Front End manager starts on Dec 3rd. Yippie! Best Christmas present for me I can imagine right now.
Whew! What else can happen now?
