TG Report and the aftermath... and the doctor!

Monday, November 26, 2012

So, Thanksgiving was wonderful! We had two other families join us with whom we're very close, and it was a great time! We gave ourselves permission to have (and enjoy!) an off-plan day, and our plan to give away all the leftovers worked! Our friends got to go home to turkey sandwiches and casseroles, and we got to go back to the plan without temptation staring us in the face! It did take a few days for the carb tooth to settle down again though, I really had a hard time until sometime yesterday, my body WANTED PEANUT BUTTER TOAST AND MILK AND IT WANTED IT NOW!!!! But I was a good girl and I didn't do it.

Today's Dr appt was enlightening, we didn't do bloodwork, that's scheduled for Dec 10th now, which is fine, I found out Wed that I wasn't due today anyway, so it's not like I was fasting and pumped for it. However, the Dr is the one who asked about TG, and asked how the following few days went, and she mentioned that it takes 72 hours for your system to get over itself with the grehlin/insulin cycle which is why I was so desperate for TOAST NAO! (I was seriously a grumpy toastaholic caveman!)

Good to know for moving forward, if I'm going to take a vacation day, I'm going to pay for it for three days afterwards.

But my Dr is super happy about my progress and the weight loss, and not concerned about what appears to be some yoyo'ing from day to day, I'm eating what I'm supposed to, but some days are lighter than others by several hundred calories all in a row, and then I'll get days where I'll eat my own arm off, I don't care what it is... since the week is averaging out to be working fine, and the "days off" from carb counting are very few and far between, it isn't slowing my progress or sending me into a carb tailspin, so she's ok with the days where I've actually got 36 counted carbs in because there's other days (like today) where I've only got 24, and yesterday was 19. My body is probably still offsetting the Venti Latte from Starbucks on Saturday!

So, as of yesterday morning, I'm only 1.5lbs from my end of November mini goal of 25 lbs lost! Totally doable. ;) And the 30th is a payday, so I'm going shopping for JEANS baby! I'm going to need to get some that have a fair bit of stretch in them but feel pretty snug in the store so I can continue to wear them until my birthday, Feb 18th, by which point, I want to be in the 1-club! That's 30 lbs more in another two and a half months, which feels pretty manageable even if the current rate slows down a little.

So exciting to find what works for you and see the progress. It's also a blessing to get a good word from the doctor that you're on the right track. Keep it up!!

Great progress! I know how hard it can be to pay for a higher-carb day, but it does not matter in the long run. You are on the right track now and the progress will continue.

You GO girl!! I really like the idea of monthly weight goals (and rewards! :-) I'm almost at my first 10 lbs of weight loss and have a manicure and pedicure planned. Thanks for sharing about the carb thing too. Right after Thanksgiving day off I WAS RAVENOUS!! Feel so much better now that I'm eating right. Keep doing what you're doing and you will make it to your goal!
