How I can stop holiday gain?

Monday, November 26, 2012

Ha ha ha! Isn't that a funny idea and oh so impossible to manage? Yeah, probably but I haven't done great with the weight loss thing lately so why not give it a try.

Thanksgiving didn't go too bad. I kept my portions under control for both of the big dinners I was a part of and only really went overboard when it came to desserts. So, taking a lesson from that, I know where my weakness is and I need to be sure to be careful with the sweets for the rest of the holiday season. To keep from feeling deprived, I'll allow myself one portion of a treat each day. That doesn't mean a portion equals half a cheesecake! Maybe a portion could be a small piece of dark chocolate or maybe a single Christmas cookie, but as long as its not a huge sugar feast I should be okay.

Great idea! Sweets are my weakness too! I am really good when I am at work, but when I get home all bets are off. I don't have sweets in my house for this reason. Instead, I buy just one portion when I want it and that is it. When it's gone, it's gone and not sitting around my house.

When we know our weaknesses we are better able to plan and maintain control! emoticon emoticon

Kudos to you for being able to have just one cookie or one portion. When you are successful for 5 or more of 7 days, you should plan a reward, if that motivates you. As you build your momentum and streaks of success, your motivation should take off too! Wishing you only the best as you journey toward your goals. emoticon

Mel, it's a good plan to enjoy the holidays and still have some of the foods we crave. Be strong and KEEP it at one portion! I'm going to be doing that too - but planning ahead for those sweet treats is a good idea too! Good luck!
