Unexpected Functional Fitness Test

Monday, November 26, 2012

Natalie is released from Kindergarten at 3:05pm on school days and I'm to pick her up by 3:20. Well, hubby had the car and at 3 was no where around. I woke up Gwen from her nap, put her in the rickety old double stroller (the good one was in the car hubby had), packed essentials, and took off for school at 3:07. I wasn't sure exactly how far it was, but knew I'd have to hustle to make it in time.

No, it's not a jogging stroller, but I found I could jog with it. We did make it and Natalie thought it was very funny that she was suddenly a "walking student" instead of a rider. When we were about half way home Old Dad stopped and got Natalie and Gwen. I pushed the rickety stroller (no longer folds) home.

So I had a good morning treadmill run at the Y and an unexpected afternoon jog. So grateful that I'm fit enough that it wasn't really a problem!!

Way to make the best of a bad situation!
Interesting thought though -extra work if this school is within a reasonable walking distance, why depend on the vehicle at all? If the weather is nice and you feel good, why not just walk and pick her up? Gives both of you some exercise and fresh air too!

You were in a tricky situation, but because you are strong and fit you could get yourself out of it. Well done.
