Many of you may already know but DH and I spent last week at a cottage instead of doing the usual stressful and drama filled Thanksgiving with family. We did go a week before to see my 93 year old Dad and made him a mini Thanksgiving. We arrived Monday at the cottage and it was adorable! No bells and whistles (in other words no hot tub, fireplace or internet) but it was exactly what we needed! It is a cute little house probably built in the 1930s furnished with a few antiques and the owners had decorated it for Fall. It is almost at the end of a street in a very small town. Sooo peaceful and quiet! About the only noise you hear is twice a day the only church in town rings it's chimes!
I would go outside and sit on the steps to listen each time. Occasionally you may have a plane fly over but I really only remember hearing two! The owners were very hospitable and friendly, inviting us to have Thanksgiving dinner with them.
They lived on the other side of the little town and so we went (took all of 4-5 minutes to get there LOL) I found that eating with strangers that I eat less then I would have with family.
We had to take the long way home and stop by my Dad's again since Dh left a flashdrive when we were there a couple weeks ago. But it gave us a chance to visit with Dad again and stop at a new bulk food store on the way home ---not always a good idea LOL!

But I am doling out my dark chocolate covered almonds slowly so they will last longer!
Back home we quickly unloaded the van and then got the Christmas decorations down from storage. We spent a good part of the afternoon yesterday putting up the outside lights and today I worked on the inside. I may be done by Christmas! I will post pics later this week!
