I really enjoy the new SPARKPEOPLE TOTAL BODY SCULPTING DVD.
The workouts are well thought out and each exercise flows from one movement to the other. It feels like a combination of strength training, toning and balancing. There are no jerky movements and or joint jarring moves on this video…this exercise series feels like choreography of controlled movement that leaves you feeling stronger and more relaxed at the end of the session. This is a great workout for someone who wants to get fit without being sore. True to her style, Coach Nicole’s clear instructions make it easy to maintain proper form. She points out what to focus on as you do each exercise. And I like the way she talks you thru a preview of the next exercise just before it begins. The transition from exercise to exercise is done at an even pace and makes each routine easy to follow. The exercises are shown in Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced levels with tips on what to focus on. The music has a good tempo and the video does a great job of displaying how each level is performing the exercise. It is very easy to watch and keep up with. It has a great blend of exercises that works several issues at once. It truly is a total body workout.
The first thing I did was sit and watch the video. I wanted an idea of what I had to look forward to. Within 2 minutes I was joining in. I felt like this was made just for someone like me.
The BARRE BODY BLAST (20 minutes) workout combines moves from Body Barre, Pilates, and Yoga; you can do this routine without shoes. I did the weight routines with a 5 lbs. dumbbell and felt challenged. The BODYWEGHT BURN (22 minutes) adds more cardio to the mix, a bit more balance challenge, lots of leg toning, gluteus, and standing core sculpting. All of these moves are deliberate. I found my heart pumping while totally in control of each movement. SIZZLE-SCULPT CIRCUIT (19 minutes) is a nice blend of strength training performed with dumbbells. And the DVD also includes some short bonus features that add a little extra touch to the mix (including a 10 minute Power Workout from Kristi Yamaguchi)
The total workout mix leaves you feeling positive and confident that YOU CAN DO IT, without suffering aches and pains the following day. I can see this becoming my favorite workout video. Between this video and the SparkPeople 28 Day BootCamp DVD, I now have the perfect blend of challenging routines for a very healthy lifestyle.
