Picture Blog: What We've Been Up To Lately

I've been spending less time on Spark lately. I think it's part of my transition to maintenance: it's been a gradual and unconscious shift where I find myself spending less time thinking about my weight and more time just living a healthy life. I'm not slacking on working out and I'm still mostly tracking food, but I've just been busy with other things. If I've missed important happenings in the lives of my Sparkfriends, I totally apologize! I wish I could spend REAL time with all of you...you are such special, wonderful, gifted people!
It's been a busy time around here. Juliana played "Piano Annie" in her school's melodrama, "Deadwood Dick." She was talked into it by her good friend Gary (that's him with her in the pic). She had to practice a lot and find all her own music so it took a lot of time but she had a blast!
This pic is of the marching band in our Veteran's Day parade. Juliana is the head drum major (she's in the middle in the pic.) It was a wonderful, old-fashioned parade with floats, bands, and speeches honoring the veterans.
James was home for 10 days for his Thanksgiving break so it was great to spend time with him. He has had a tough semester with challenging classes and breaking up with his girlfriend. (We are secretly very relieved...she just didn't seem right for him.) He just called with good news, that he got a promotion at work and will be able to work during the Christmas break, with a week off for the actual holidays. He will be giving campus tours to prospective students, and with his outgoing personality, that should be a great job for him.
His school (Kansas State) was ranked number one in football for a while which was very exciting for them. He is still a Husker fan at heart, though! My sister got Nebraska football tickets so James and Juliana got to go to a game and met some friends there. So much fun!
Saturday would have been my mom and dad's 50th wedding anniversary. I'm glad they are celebrating together in heaven but I've been feeling sad and missing them.
As we enter the Advent season, I'm praying for peace, hope and faith to fill the hearts of my family and friends. Enjoy every moment of this beautiful time of year. Blessings to each and every one of you!
