Week 15 of Marathon Training & my 20th Half Marathon!
Monday, November 26, 2012
Had a great week of training! On Wednesday, did 4 x 800's of speedwork and keep my speed around a 6:45 pace for each interval. Was very encouraged by this! My coach is having me do a run/walk method as I've been challenged with maintaining my stamina, so we'll see how that works for my long runs.
Yesterday I ran my 20th Half Marathon at Space Coast in Cocoa Beach, FL. To think that only 3 years ago this month I ran my very first Half, and didn't even run my second Half until a year later! Now I can't stop running the Half's lol, guess I'm just a Half Fanatic (#1518 actually)!
For this Half, I was a Pacer and paced the 2:15 group. This is such a great race! Pretty small, around 3,000 between the Half and Full. Beautiful, scenic waterfront course and flat! The race starts early at 6:15 so we were able to see a breathtaking sunrise along the course and dolphins!
I had a great group that ran with me and came in at 2:14:13 so right on track! Had a few people in my group set a personal best which was awesome!
3 Weeks until my Marathon!!! Am I ready? As ready as I will be! While I would love to qualify for the Boston Marathon and my focus is that, I'm careful not to put undue pressure on myself to do it. I already have a pretty aggressive race schedule afterwards so either way I'm excited! To Yahweh I give all the glory and praise!
Always great to see Sparkfriends!
Mom was my traveling partner for the weekend, we had a blast!
