We do take certain things for granted until we realize how important or should I say significant they are. We all do cross the road/street, most times on a daily basis or several times daily. Yesterday, I realized how important crossing the road could be in my life.
After the 10K, I was really tired and my plan was to take a good rest. I was getting a good one when my daughter reminded me about the Redbox movie that was due. What! my account is almost red and the only red I am looking forward to is Santa dropping off my gift: Walking shoes, Running Shoes, FitBit, and some Active Wears.
I jumped off, grabbed something on, and off we went. I can't afford a red account right now. We had to cross a 6-lane road (3 on each side) and as we got close, I realized someone was just crossing and the timer showed 14 more seconds to go. Usually the time for every pedestrian-crossing is 30second. I asked my daughters if we should go and they went "Maama, we can't make it". When it got to 12secs, something in me lifted up and I said "Let's go". We ran across and made it before zero!
Wow! That was an achievement. It suddenly occurred to me that there was a period when I would take all 30seconds and more. Here was I literarily running across the road. This is definitely an NSV for me. I have really changed and I am proud of me.
