Where has my Spark gone?

Sunday, November 25, 2012

It's not out, but it's flickering.

Some examples:

*While I still weigh / measure all my food, I only track it about 4 days a week.
*Only getting to the gym 1 day a week, I used to go 4 to 5 days.
*Have truly lost interest in coming to SparkPeople.

I do have a habit of jumping into projects and not following through. I tend to be gung ho at first and then lose interest. So when I hit my 1 year anniversary, in Oct., with SparkPeople I was really proud of myself. Yet even at that point, I could feel my interest waning.
It was easy to be excited, when I first started. I was seeing weight loss results and that kept my Spark going. But I have been at a plateau for a long time.

What I need is to reignite my Spark. To feel the excitement that I had when I first started. I'm just not sure how to get my motivation back.

I have had several times that I have felt like you are now. It is hard to force yourself into "feeling it" again. But even if you plateau it sounds like you're not gaining your weight back. That's something good right there. The amount you are doing on SP is having some benefit. Sometimes I decide I'm content with my current weight and eventually I see a change for the better and I feel like getting back into SP more. I plateaued in February and decided that what I'm doing is actually maintaining. I know that if I put a bit more effort into it, I Can Do It and lose again. Also, notice all the changes you have made in your life. Those are victories and acknowledging them may help you get your Spark back into a flame!

Have you considered joining a new team with challenges that might help? There are Biggest Loser team challenges here for like 10 weeks or so. Commit to 10 weeks...see what kind of difference it can make. Just a thought.

Review your food tracker and fitness tracker from when you were losing and compare it to now. Find where you changed and make a plan to go back. You are in control and can break the plateau but you've gotta work at it.

    You can do it!!!!
