Bonus blog: because flurries are in the forecast

Sunday, November 25, 2012

I knew the moment would come: the rude awakening that I'm not in Florida any more. I'm back in Nebraska. When I flipped on the TV news this morning and saw the 20% chance of flurries tonight and tomorrow morning, and the predicted high of 35 degrees F for tomorrow? It hit.

So... I went out for a walk-run-walk with my camera... I was out for about 50 minutes, 55 if you include the stops along the way to snap photos and use the sole potty stop on this morning's route. It was 37 F when I went out the front door.

The sun was just up.
Tree branches are bare.
The vegetation around the lake has gone dormant.
But still the pathway calls.

It felt really good, a week after the HM, to be out running. I wore lots of layers, of course. Came home and stretched, and counted the blessings of being where I am today!

May we all give our bodies what they ask for: balance of nutrition, activity, and rest. Because that's what supports life, which is GOOD! Spark on!

Kind of looks like MN, except we have snow on the grass. Chilly here too, but no wind to speak of. That makes all the difference.

I would cry me a river over the loss of your summer, except my tears froze a month ago when we got our first snowfall :P Our temps have dropped off to -4 when the normal should be more like 22, but we went out and walked anyway today. The frozen North can be quite beautiful and sparkly when the sun is shining although the frozen noses are not fun.
Great photos Barb! that is an awesome tribute to your strength and training regimen that you were ready to go out and run again so soon after the half!!
Love these photos -reminds me of my fall way back when..
Spark on indeed!

Once again, your pictures stir my nostalgia. That's what the transition between autumn and winter is supposed to look like. Yeah, I got flurries yesterday and today; but the grass is still green. Been seeing that for 21 years, and it still doesn't seem right to see green grass in the winter every time the snow melts enough to uncover it.

Glad to know that you can transition back to "winter"! All seasons of the year are glorious . . . I'm really feeling that.

And: so glad that the grosbeaks entertained your cat!

I ran until the second week in January 2012. Of course, the New England winter was unusually mild. I'm going to try to continue running outdoors at least once a week as long as I can. Today felt like snow, but it wasn't forecast and we didn't get any. Too bad. I like snow.

37!! The only thing to layer that would keep me warm in that, is a blanket!!

Yes, sadly, it's HERE!! WINTER! It was so windy on Black Friday that honestly, I had to hang on to my DH, because I felt like otherwise I'd end up in Kansas! Even he was having a difficult time with the wind.

Oh well, at least that part has settled down here. 25 degrees when I woke up this morning @ 5:30 am. Puts a rping in our step when walking outside! Poor Spot's ears were flapping in the breeze! He's not crazy about that! At least he met some of his "doggie buddies" on the walk.

Yes our weather changed overnight too, was hoodie weather yesterday, today hat, mittens and maybe even a scarf we have a bitter north wind blowing up here in Atlantic Canada and even the odd snow flurry - guess we have been blessed with great fall weather up to now.
HUGS glad you had a great run. I have had 3 good walks with puppy so far today.

It was snowing when I walked this morning. If my fingers didn't get so cold I would enjoy it more.
