My Mom's Memorial Service

Sunday, November 25, 2012

Yesterday, November 24, we had the most beautiful Memorial Service for my Mom. All four of my children and their spouses and my seven grandchildren plus Megan's dear husband and my precious great grandson were there. My two oldest shared memories of their Grandmother and they had us crying and laughing. My Mom was truly a "life is all about my family" person. Dennis was by my side and I know he was very touched by all that the kids had to say.

My Pastor did a wonderful eulogy and shared beautiful scripture that was comforting and challenging. Even though Mom wasn't a member of my church he visited her just about every day that she was in the hospital. And she told him she felt that he had become her friend. She also assured him that she knew the Lord as her Saviour.

Several friends from her church came to the service and several close friends from my church were there. The rest were all family. And it was a real celebration of her life. Just what she would have wanted. We all knew she was smiling down on us.

Her interment will be in PA in June as she requested. She did not want buried in the winter because all of her family had become "southerners" and did not drive in snow and winter weather.

I miss her but I know she is with the Lord and will rejoice this holiday season with Him and her family that has gone before her. In my lonely times this is what I am going to focus on.

Her last words to me were, "I love you so much". And even though we had our ups and downs in life she was and always be "my Mom"~~I love you!!
