Making Exercise Fun...

So I stumbled across a blog on SP this morning in which the Sparker seems to be having a great time on her health journey. Her blog and SparkPage were colorful and fun and she has made "play" a big part of her exercise...

That's my inspiration today. I haven't exercised since Wednesday because I was dreading a run. I realized this morning that if I'm dreading a run...I should walk instead. I love walking and it's still exercise. The dog and I just went for a 3.5 mile walk...and I loved it.

One thing this Sparker does is keeps a stack of post-it notes for her exercise streak (600 days so far!!). I thought of doing that, but in this house, it's difficult to keep people from taking stacks of any kind of paper. So instead I've started a bead jar. This works well, since I once had the idea of using beads for the kids...only to find that we weren't very consistent...

So anyway, I have all these beads...

Each week when SP tallies my miles for the week (of walking OR running), I'll put the same number of beads as miles for the week in my jar. Here's what I've got so far (13 for this week):

Not so impressive so far, but it's a start! Once I have a full jar, I'll have to come up with something cool for my reward...

    I use stickers. I love to see how many I can get done for the week. Of course I like to get my 1000 fitness minutes for the month from spark emoticon
