im back

Saturday, November 24, 2012

I have got so busy lately that i stopped blogging and documenting my calorie intake. I set myself up for failure when i don't do those things, especially documenting my calorie intake. I have gained a few pounds and im at a point that i have to make this change. It will only get worse if i wait til after the holidays .Life gets busy but i have to put myself first for once so i can take care of the ones i love. I just got my most recent bloodwork back and it looks like i have RA, i was diagnosed with mixed connective tissue disease about 7 years ago ,which was most likely the start of the RA but my labs were negative. I need to get this weight off so my joint pain will ease up.. Happy Holiday's everyone.

My labs say I have the eginning stages of RA as well. I amnot "full-blown" yet, but the osteoarthritis and the degenerative joint disease is advancing right along. I have been able to lose 31 pounds on here, but most of that was while I was in a cast with a broken leg. Does that make any sense? i guess I did do a lot of recumbent bike riding, and that is great cardio. If you have the ability, get one at home so you can burn calories like a demon... It's like 500 calories in 20 minutes if you can pedal 16-19 mph. Beats walking 3 miles for a similar calorie-burn.

So that would be my first suggestion - ge tthe recumbent bike so you can do it at home when you don't feel so poorly. Sometimes I have to force myself to ride, but then I think about how cold it is outside and how great it would be to exercise in front of the TV and not have to go anywhere to work up a sweat!

Welcome to the RA Fit Chicks Club. We are happy to have you with us, but I am sorry you have RA. I am one of the team leaders and noticed you joined, so I thought I'd come byand put my 2 cents worth in! Since we are in the same boat and not severely crippled by the disease, we can cheer each other on! It takes me all darn day to get my walking and workouts in. But I do it because the alternative it to have all my joints lock up and stay in pain all day. Exercise does help, I promise.

You have a good attitude. Take things slowly but stick with the tracking. It does make a huge difference.
