An excerpt from a course but such a good short read!

I came to this realization years ago and decided to simplify my life and have never regretted it. I don't do drama and weeded those who were into it out of my life. I am into healthy relationships with other healthy adults. There are times when I have to deal with emotional vampires but they will never anything more than passing through.

Some personality types just don't do well together... they get on each other's nerves.

As for emotional vampires.. chronically negative, needy people... that's who they are, not you.

IMO recognizing and maintaining your separateness while being compassionate, is the key to dealing with these types... its that simple.

I know exactly what you mean about these kinds of relationships. I call them toxic people as they are poisonous and suck the life out of you.
